From Rosanne: hehe loving the flock off! you should def do ‘mother flocker’ and ’sexy mother flocker’ and what about ewe in red…as in lady in red. also was thinking for the beach types maybe a shep over looking the sea, ‘room for an ewe’ as in room with a view.
    just some thoughts.

  2. 2 anngadd

Hey Rosanne, thanks for the ideas! Room with a Ewe exists already. ‘Mother flocker’ now thats an interesting one! Hey what do you think of that idea?

  3. 3 anngadd

    From Laura B:
Hi Ann, I was so sorry to miss your exhibition at Steenberg. It looks like it was a great success! I adore your IT ewes.
Suggestion - why don’t you allocate a webpage to collect ideas from people about how they see your ewes evolving further wrt portraying humanity. For instance, when I saw “annual turnover” it instantly sparked off ideas for “balance sheet” and “counting or tagging assets(ewessets)”. The humour of your sheep reverberates for a long time in the mind and encourages the viewer to want to “play along” re word games.

  4. 4 Handa

What about “RAMbo”? Must say I have a few people in mind that would luv that “mother flocker” one

  5. 5 anngadd

Thanks Handa! RAMbo exists, complete with headscarf and weapons! As for Mother Flocker, …mmm will need to pluck up courage for that one. Nice gift for the tyrannical boss/mother-in-law/ex tho? Any orders!!??

  6. 6 Ute Kendzia

    Dear Ann, “!!!Yes EWE!!!”
(Just an idea!!) I have not seen that title - but then I am sure I have not seen all your paintings & prints.

Your sheep indeed are an inspiration and never fail to put smiles on faces and do well hanging in offices and boardrooms.

    Ute

  7. 7 anngadd

No, “Yes Ewe” does not exist at present. Thing is what is Ewe saying yes to? Is it wine, the Chippendale Rams or a large slice of gooey chocolate cake?

  8. 8 Chivonne

Hi Ann, I saw your paintings at Decorex Cape Town for the first time and can’t wait to get my own special EWE. How about RAMzilla? Samson & EWElila could also be intereting?
    Chivonne

  9. 9 Ute Kendzia

Ann, sorry for the late reply ….
No, “Yes Ewe!!!!…….. like in “What??? Who??? ME???” Sheep “Caught Out” scenario - sheep with guilty look, crossed legs, looking absolutely innocent… I can just picture him / her / it …. butter could not melt in his mouth

    Ute

  10. 10 Elaine

How about Rambling - ram with a big bling diamond around its neck. A spin off of your letter is receiving our attention could perhaps be your letter is being dealt with and have a bunch of guys playing cards dealing.

  12. 12 Belinda

Ye Gadds !! Hail the Sheep Queen !! Stumbled on your aticle in a magazine & couldn’t ewe-ait to access your website to view your art. (Arn’t ewe clever to dangle a carrot by not incl-ewe-ding one single piece of your art in that article! Ewe tickled my fancy. Didn’t ewe feel the least bit sheepish ? The background of the photo doesn’t count. Sheep. ) Have always had a fondness for sheep & absol-ewe-tly love your ewe-ispiring work. Am so happy for you that you are a tr-ewe success story. Well done & enjoy your well deserved cash !

  13. 13 Belinda

Oh, i forgot to mention ……….. Ewe Rock !!

  14. 14 Belinda

Ye Gadds, ewe’ve totally ispired me. I have a teenage son, ewe says to tell you he ‘digs’ your art and here are a few suggestions for the yung-at-heart lambs :

Ewe Suck (not nice) Ewe Groovy (cool) Ewe Fly (cool2) Ewe Manky (gross) Ewe Minger (fatty) Ewe Tight (cool3)

  15. 15 anngadd

Dear Belinda, thanks for the ideas. Ewe suck…..hmmmm. x rated sheep! Ewe minger/manky is very funny but ditto! Ewe Rock exists, should be on the site under general, if not I’ll get to putting it there sometime. Would love to have had many sheep in the magazine, clealry the editor thought otherwise! Thanks for the encouragement. Sheep Queen - I love it!!! Thanks and keep the ideas coming!!!

  16. 16 Belinda

Hail Ye Sheep Queen! Apologies for not having gone in-depth into the words supplied by my teenage son, ewe would’ve thought they have an x-rated connotation to them ?! The lingo that our youth ewe’s obviously contain mostly double entedre’s. I am so the innocent lamb brought to slaughter. Sorry ! Drat.

  17. 17 anngadd

OH ewe wicked thing ewe! No apologies needed when it comes to dealing with those of an age where spots out number brains, anything is possible! (I only happen to know the meanings because I have two of the same.) So please, you are most welcome in the fold and next time hopefully this lad won’t pull the wool over your eyes!

  18. 18 Guillaume

    Hi,
I saw your work in Cape Town and since i follow your work.
I bought few paintings and i would like to propose you : “Ewe on the moon”

  19. 19 Bianca

i absolutely LOVE your sheep.. they are my favourite, and the only art I buy. I have gone so far as to paint one wall in my house red, so as to highlight the paintings hanging on the adjacent wall, they look amazing. Ewe Rock :)

  20. 20 anngadd

    Hi Bianca,
Please email me a pic! Thank-ewe so much for loving sheep!

  21. 21 anngadd

    Guillame
Any ideas for Italian sheep? - have been invited to exhibit there and my Italian is still extremely basic. Think some genuine Italian sheep might be cool.

  22. 22 Bianca

I will do so asap. I’m going to our house in hermanus this weekend, and I will inevitably end up at the little art gallery on the corner where I have bought a LOT of sheep. I cant’ wait!

  23. 23 Alex

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you down the road!

  24. 24 Alex

    Your blog is interesting!

    Keep up the good work!

  25. 25 Marguerite Carreira

So inspired by your work at DECOREX. Herewith some ideas, all funky….
    Sheepwalker
    Sheep shot
    Sheep skate
    Knee deep in sheep
The sheep is going to hit the fan

“Sheep the most functional English word!”
    Get your “sheep” together
    You can smoke some “sheep”
    Feel like “sheep”
    Look like “sheep”

Once you know your “sheep” you dont need to know anything else.

If you are warm and happy in the “sheep” Shut up!
As happy as a pig in “Sheep”

Well I could roll of quite a few more but before you snore….
    Bye
    Marguerite

  26. 26 anngadd

thanks so much for doing that! Ewe star!

  27. 27 anngadd

    Hi Marguerite!
Ewe’ve been busy! Clearly no sheep on ewe!
Sheep Skate has to be my favourite! Thanks!

To all of you who have shared your ideas thanks. Will decide on best ideas and announce the winner in next email (Mid September).

  28. 28 Jo-Anne

    Hi Ann,

I am just wondering if ‘grad-ewe-ation’ already exists? I am Grad-ewe-ating in January with a MA in Psychotherapy and would love to spoil myself with one of your paintings! Think I deserve something after the 3 years of the blood sweat and tears! I worked at the Absolute Hotel in Limerick, Ireland and I just love your paintings! It always made me smile!

    Regards,
    Jo-Anne

  29. 29 anngadd

No grad-ewe-ation does not exist. Well done for achieving your degree. I have several psychologist friends and I know its a huge amount of work. can certainly do for ewe!

  30. 30 Helen

I just love the food and wine ewes… What about “baa hopping”?

  31. 31 Shakespierre

Hi, I just met your sheep and I love them! Have you done “Ewe-nanimous”? I picture a sheep with boxing gloves maybe, his hands in the air and three judges holding up the scores. a 1 upside down indicating a 7, a 2 upside down indicating 5 and a 6 upside down with a underscore indicating a 9. Anycase ewe rule!

  32. 32 zania grobbelaar

I love sport!!! I would love to see a ballerina and a fitness model in a bikini with a dumbell in her hand and eyelashes…

    crazy apples bout ur art!!!

    yeaiihh!!

  33. 33 anngadd

Helen, Baa-hopping is great - will definately do that!!!
As for Shakespierre “Ewe-nanimous” is also seriosly cool and thanks for the compliments re sheep!
As for Zania….hmmm….on the sport side have done personal trainer sheep, poledancing for ewe, an umpire, a ref etc but this could work. In fact dumb belle could be seriously funny! Thanks guys. Defiante contenders for the six month give away signed numbered print.

  34. 34 Frannie

Ewe-blue? Love all the happy stuff, but what goes up, must come down. And some of us do at times.

  35. 35 Frannie

And one for Casablanca. Humphrey Bogart’s line: “Here’s looking at ewe, kid.”

  36. 36 Douw

Dear Ann, Visited Clarens recently and I bought the little book with the prints in and just love it. We had a ball in the car readin it… Thanks for sharing your amazing and unique talent with us.

  37. 37 Douw

Suggestions: How about “Ewe blew it” ? Maybe “Ewe-resistable” or “Linger-ewe” ?

  38. 38 anngadd

By Ewe-resistable you were of course refering to the artist?……

  39. 39 Juanita

Ag mens kan net nie genoeg van jou skapies kry nie!

So paar “ideas” waarmee ek gespeel het….

    Bachelor….Baa-chelor
Baa-baa-las… so ou skaapie wat te lank in “skaapstad” was.
Barber… So dat skaap sy baard ook kan laat skeer en ‘n haircut kan kry.
    Baba-ewe…. Dalk ‘n skaap met ‘n pram…

Wel ek kan nie wag om te sien wat skaap nog als gaan aanvang nie!

  40. 40 anngadd

Baa-baalas that is excellent will start one today. The others will work well. Have got the IT guy to put a special Paintings/Afrikaans page on the site. Watch it in the weeks ahead to see some of these paintings appear there. There ia also a seperate section for Afrikaans sheep in the new book thats due out in Feb: The New Ewe!Baie Dankie Juanita!!!

  41. 41 anngadd

Junaita, let me have your address and I’ll send you a free 20×20cm painting of Baabaalas (think you’d prefer this to a print?) to say thanks and you’re the winner of the ideas for the past six months. Next selection will be July 2009. So send ideas!!!

  42. 42 Nat

As I am a big red wine lover. My husband bought me Skaapstad for my birthday and I have fallen in love with all the EWEs.

Have you created DracEWEla? I love vampires. If you have already painted DracEWEla, kindly post on your webpage.

    Some random idea:

The BlEWE bloods - depicting the royals
    MEWEsic appreciation:
    Elvis - BlEWE Moon

  43. 43 anngadd

Have uploaded Draewela under paintings/general for ewe! Sheep get I like Mewesic appreciation best. Thx and I am also rather fond of wine!

  44. 44 Juanita

    Hi Ann!!!!

Wow!!! Ek is so bly!!!! Dankie ek kan nie wag om my painting te kry nie!!!!
Ek sal aan nog ‘n paar idees dink en sal jou op hoogte hou!

  45. 45 Simon

Hi, I am really not creative but I was thinking about a Pepperdewe! A bright red Pepperdewe.

  46. 46 Simon

And a Qewerty keyboard for the IT buffs.

  47. 47 Simon

    No I can’t stop…this is addictive

    StEWEd: a drunk sheep
More that a fEWE: a crowd of ewe’s
EWEan McGregor: Trainspotting (ewe with bino’s watching trains)
EWE turn: a sheep doing a turn :)

  48. 48 anngadd

Not really creative!! I think ewe clearly are Simon! When I was exhibiting sheep in the UK, this eccentric poet came along and gave me Ewean McGregor. His concept of how it should be portrayed however was very different - nuff said! Ewe turn exists, I like Qewerty had not heard of the term. A peppered ewe….hmmm likewise stewed could work. Carry on with the addiction!!!

  49. 49 Tineka

    Hi Ann,

I was at the Dome this past weekend and saw your stand. I love your work!! I finally have a reason to put sheep pics all over my house!!.
    Some of my ideas are:
Ewe tu, Brute? (prehaps two sheep with a new look and another sheep looking on)
Meet my flocks (young sheep and it’s parents)
A Good Ram is hard to find.
    A bee in ewe bonnet
    No fleece off me
Ewe Biscuit (like zoo biscuit) or kick it ewe biscuit!
Graze Rage, or Ram rage (play on road rage)
Sheep from around the world - Ninja Ewe, Rasta Ewe (with dreadlocks), French ewe with a beret.
Hope you like some of them.

  50. 50 anngadd

    Hi Tineka,
I love Ewe tu, Brute! Rasta ewe (keep on grass!) should be on the site somewhere under “general” or “professions” ! Ewe biscuit is cool - thought it was only my buddy who said that but clealry its more common. Keep up the ideas!!

  51. 51 Juanita

    Hi Ann!

Dankie vir my skaapie… stunning hoor!

    Nog ‘n paar idees…

    Barbie…. Pa-baa, Ma-baa & Ba-baa… Bewety Pageant…

En my persoonlike gunsteling…. “Japie my Skaapie”
My toekomstige man se naam is Japie…

    Geniet die dag!

  52. 52 Juanita

    oooo…..

Wat van “Bewety and the Beast” ….

  53. 53 Juanita

    nog….

“to graze or not to graze”
    William Sheepspeare….

  54. 54 anngadd

I love to “graze or not to graze!” Baabie is in the New Ewe book - How to change Barbie to Baabie - there ’s a sheep mask etc bit wacky but hope its enjoyed! Veels geluk met Jaapie! Pabaa, Mabaa is fun - looks like you had a fun time with sheep!

  55. 55 Juanita

Dankie ek het baie pret met die “sheep”….

As jy ooit “Japie my skaapie” verf laat weet my… ek deps die eerste een!

    Till then…

    Sheep out!

  56. 56 Guillaume

    Hi Ann,

Why not “ewe the musketeer” or the musketewer” ?

    Bye
    Guillaume

  57. 57 Guillaume

    And e-weal :)

  58. 58 Deseré

Do you remember the Ewings from Dallas, Texas ? What about “The Ewe-ings”, sheep with Cowboy Hats holding a glass of scotch whiskey !

  59. 59 anngadd

I do indeed remember the Eweings (shows the age!!!)Bobby and the ever nasty JR! Yes this could work.

  60. 60 Shani

possibly an addition to corporate merger could be ‘the joint venture’, the long and winding, often hilly road forcebly holding hands…the illusion of good intentions

  61. 61 Mike

I went to the CTICC for the book show and low and behold an original artist.Have you ever had a sheep funeral…ewe-logy or a baa-ber cutting fleece. Sheep postal service lamb-post , sheep therapy ( a sheep counting matchstickmen). An Australian four wheel drive sheep is a ewe-te. I want to theme a room at my guest house with your sheep so a signed print would come in handy

  62. 62 anngadd

Hi Shani, Like the Joint Venture….however I must admit my mind conjured up something else for joint!!!! But it could certainly work either way. Have considered ewe-logy but not sure anyone would want to buy it given the theme! Ewe-te is good. This best sheep idea ends 30 June 2009 so ewe’ve only got a couple of weeks left!

  63. 63 Merle

The SA Rugby Team, the Springboks, maybe you could have a smaller rugby team - the Springskaaps, not sure …. I love rugby and loved your All Blacks one.
How about a penaltewe kick in rugby or an Ewe try score ……

For Karatewe, chop sticks, etc. Also love your Baafana one.

  64. 64 anngadd

    Hi Merle,
re Karate, a friend came up with Kung F’ewe for a painting for a visiting karate teacher which was fun. Have done “Ewe Beauty” for rugby with a sheep (SA naturally) scoring a try. Also Ewenited for soccer. There must be many more related to rugby…will put the mind to work! Thx for your input.

  65. 65 Janie

    Manskaap
    Boodskaap
    Gereedskaap

  66. 66 anngadd

Hi Janie these are some great ideas, particulalry manskaap. Thank-ewe and hope you had fun thinking of them. You’re a definate contender for this six month best idea (ends 30 December) Shani won the last one - contact me so I can send your print to you.

  67. 67 Kira

how about “mof-skaap”? I will buy it!!!!

  68. 68 anngadd

Verskoon my, maar ek verstaan nie. Ok ek is ‘n soutie. Wat beteken “mof-skaap”? As ek weet dan kan ek dit vir jou verf!

Would love to see a “Yoga for Ewe” sheep :)

  70. 70 Nicky

I am an IT Lecturer and have some of your “IT Sheep” in my office. The students LOVE it!
What about the classic 3 wise monkeys “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”, but this time with 3 wise sheep “see no ewe-l, hear no ewe-l, speak no ewe-l”?

  71. 71 Nadia margrate

    Ewe can’t be serious !! A sheep pulling a silly face !!

  72. 72 Lynette de Bruine

Hi Anne, have you done screenshot? (Ewe shooting computer screen) or alternatively screen-dump. :) (Ewe taking a poo on computer)?? Love the IT ewe’s.

  73. 73 Hipolito M. Wiseman

  74. 74 Esti Swart

    Hi Ann!
Loving the sheep more than ever…
How about beach boys (sheep on beach, or sheep with beach ball) singing “Baaaaa-rbara Ann”?
Think it’s funny as YOU ARE ANN!!! lol..

  75. 75 Esti Swart

Julius Baaaa-lema? (sheep with a big mouth)

  76. 76 Esti Swart

Lol… I can’t get these little buggers out of my mind now!
    How about
    “Swine Fl-ewe” (a sneezing sheep!)

  77. 77 Esti Swart

I keep thinking in sheep-lingo! lol
How about Swine Fl-ewe… (a sneezing sheep!)

  78. 78 anngadd

Esti, Julius I like, then there’s Cyril Ramaphosa! And I’d just love to do something on Zuma’s latest antics…..
Cappewecino is good. Only started drinking coffee 2 years ago and now just love those 3 cups a day!

  79. 79 Esti Swart

I miss my coffee… but it gives me migraines!

    thanks
    Tracy

  82. 82 Esti Swart

    Hi Ann!
    Long time…
Just wanted to say I still love the sheep and I want to get the Gradeweation one soon!
    Regards!
    Esti

  83. 83 anngadd

Thanks Esti - take it the end of studies are drawing closer then?

  84. 84 Ginger

This may be e repeat, but have you done Rameo and Jeweliet?

    Thanks!

    Ginger

  85. 85 anngadd

yes I did - about 18 months ago - Rameo and Eweliet - sold through a gallery so not sure who owns it!

  86. 86 Ursula Skellern-Gouws

Hi. How about a profession targeted ’skaarpitect’? (obviously architect)
    or
very narrow audience range though - a sheep (architect) pointing at a tuscan villa (the kind you find in suburbs round south africa, not tuscany), and saying ‘ewe’ as in yuk.

  87. 87 anngadd

That would work - have had a number or architects requested paintings for themselves or clients.

  88. 88 Grant

    Hi there Ann
Just seen our write up (saved by my mother in law) in the Tygerburger. Congrats on something unique and all the best for your new book.

I suggest: “I WANT EWE!” Thinking initially more romantically inclined, but then the “We Want You” USA army poster for recruits also pops up.

I would love to have you over for a cup of tea or a lamb sandwich sometime. We echo your story like you would not believe.. I am actually going to send you a separate mail about this.

  89. 89 Grant

“Ewe Just to Good to be true…Can’t take my Eyes off of EWE!”

  90. 90 Grant

Here’s Looking at EWE Kid.. This one from my wife…
Can’t stop, the ideas just pop up. When you started, you must have laid awake at night with ideas flooding you? Is it still the same?

    This is just awesome.

  91. 91 Ann

Love the “Ewe just to good to be true…” one of my dad’s favourite songs - can still hear him singing it.
I want ewe is also cool - would need to break traditional layout for sheep but thats also cool. :Here’s looking at ewe kid” have done previously sheep with hat and cigarette etc but a really nice one. in movies also have done “dances with sheep” “Rambo” “Dracewela” “Silence of the Lambs” and some others. re lying awake at night yes I do but them usually have forgotten the idea in the morning. Otherwise when driving - am still trying to figure out what I’ve written on the back of a CD cover whilst driving that apparently at the time I thought was a great idea….
